At Imagin+e, we believe in creating harmonious and happy spaces whether it’s at home or in your office. We think that positive energy is key to a comfortable place where everyone can feel safe and happy. Placing certain objects in a specific spot, while it may seem like a good idea, may not create a positive vibe. The same may happen with choosing your space for a bedroom, living room, kitchen, work space, etc.

Nirvashi, the face behind Imagin+e, understands that so well. In fact, in order to design harmonious spaces, she applies certain concepts of Feng Shui and Vaastu in her 3D visual realizations. By being in harmony with the environment and the elements of nature, you can create spaces with positive energy.

Today, we’ll explore how the concepts of Feng Shui can be applied in designing your own residential or commercial properties.

Feng Shui

Feng shui is an Asian principle and is defined as ‘the practice of arranging pieces in living spaces to create balance with the natural world.’ The main goal is to harness energy forces and establish harmony between an individual and their environment.

Chi

In Feng Shui, all the principles reflect nature. Chi is one of the main principles. Chi refers to vital life force or energy. When you have a very large room with very little furniture, you may have too much Chi and it can leave you feeling overwhelmed. However, if a room is filled with too many things, there isn’t enough chi and you will feel more inactive and feel the lack of space.

Commanding Position

This refers to the optimal spot within a room, strategically situated farthest from the door and not in direct alignment with it. It places you diagonally across from the entrance, allowing for a clear line of sight to the door. This position becomes the ideal spot to spend most of your time in the room. By identifying the commanding position, you’ll know how to  arrange your furniture to create a harmonious and balanced space.

Bagua

Bagua is an energy map in Feng Shui. It means that there are 8 areas in your home that correspond to a specific part of your life: family, wealth, health, helpful people, children, knowledge, fame, career, partnership. Each part is associated with shapes, colors, natural elements, seasons and numbers. At the centre of the Bagua is the 9th area that represents you and your overall wellness. The idea is to identify around 3 or less areas that need more attention and focus on these.

The Five Elements

In Feng Shui, there are 5 elements: earth, metal, water, wood, and fire and the idea is to balance these 5 elements. There are seasons, colors, shapes and areas  that are also associated with each element. Like the Bagua, you must choose which element you want to focus more on.

The intention here is to bring positive energy in every space and create harmony.
