Gypsum boards have become a great option when it comes to false ceilings and partitions. Many interior designers use this material for aesthetic reasons but there’s more to it. At Onestruct, we have been working with gypsum boards for several years and we agree that it is a great material to use, be it for your false ceilings or for your partitions.

Before we go deeper, let’s discuss what a gypsum board is. Gypsum boards, also known as drywalls, plasterboards or wallboards are surface panels consisting of a gypsum core. The gypsum core is made up of gypsum which is made with calcium sulfate dihydrate. The gypsum core is covered with paper surfacing and/or other materials such as glass fiber. There are different types of gypsum boards that are available and each category has different properties. At Onestruct, we are accustomed to different types of gypsum board and we can advise you on the best ones to opt for based on your renovation project.

Gypsum Board

These are a few reasons to choose gypsum boards if you’re thinking of installing a false ceiling or want a partition in a room:

1. It Is Not Messy

With gypsum boards, you do not need to plaster the walls before fixing the panels. They are ready-to-install and are fixed with screws on a metal frame. This means that it is less messy and you do not have to deal with a lot of dust and other particles.

2. Aesthetic Reasons

Gypsum boards are large panels that are manufactured in a factory. The advantage is that all the panels are uniform and since they are quite large, you will have less joints and you can expect a smooth finish as well. Furthermore, you can conceal all your electric wires and pipes behind these boards easily.

3. Fire, Heat, Impact & Moisture Resistant Options

As mentioned before, there are different types of gypsum boards available on the market. At Onestruct, we provide gypsum boards which are fire resistant and can contain a fire and stop it from spreading for up to 4 hours (depending on the type of gypsum board you end up choosing). We also have moisture resistant gypsum boards that are useful for areas with a lot of humidity. Impact resistant gypsum boards can absorb shocks and last for a long period and are used in buildings such as hospitals and schools.

For noisy areas such as nightclubs, restaurants, hotels, cinemas etc. we also use sound absorption or sound isolation gypsum boards.

These are available for false ceilings as well as wall partitions.

4. Easy To install

Gypsum boards can be installed easily because they do not require complex techniques. Furthermore, since these boards are very flexible, it is easy to create stepped or vaulted shapes.

5. Economic

Unlike cement and bricks, gypsum boards are less costly to install. They last for a long time and are recyclable. They are quicker to set up which means that you will save in terms of time and labor costs compared to concrete.

6. Non-Toxic Materials

Indeed, the materials used for gypsum boards are non-toxic and safe. Since it is also very easy to clean them up, they are less likely to cause health issues. They will never emit any toxic substances in the air as well.
