Sofar Sounds, the Global Music Community was launched in 2009 in the UK. A community for artists and music lovers, the idea behind Sofar Sounds is to offer concerts to showcase artists in intimate venues. Sofar has organized over 22000 performances in over 400 cities across the globe.
The advantage of choosing intimate venues for a smaller audience is that you get to discover and connect with an artist and appreciate their music and talent on a deeper level. Sometimes, large concerts with a large number of people can take away from the real pleasure of discovering a new sound. With Sofar’s intimate concerts, you get to enjoy a new and unexpected experience to listen and feel live music like never before.

Sofar, the Global Music Community, is now present in Mauritius and is introducing the concept of small concerts in intimate and unexpected venues: a living room, a loft, a small boutique or beauty salon, a garden, etc. Sofar turns an everyday space into a venue for a secret concert. Sofar Mauritius & Literally A Work Shop Ltd. are here to provide a unique and exceptional experience.
Each show will be held in a location that remains unknown and will only be revealed 36 hours before the event takes place. This intimate musical gig will be the occasion for you to discover 3 artists in a new light. You will find out who will be performing during the event itself. It’s new, unexpected and innovative.
The idea behind Sofar’s events is to come with an open mind to enjoy a magical moment where one can enjoy music freely in a cozy and intimate setting. This is the occasion to experience something different and exceptional; a place to engage with emerging artists, discover meaningful music, new genres, meet new people and be part of a global community of music lovers.
Sofar Mauritius selects artists for each show, ensuring that there’s a diverse act with different genres: folk, reggae, spoken word, etc. By keeping it a mystery, it arouses the curiosity in music lovers who are open to new experiences. It’s only at the last moment, when the artist takes the mic, that you’ll discover the different acts.
How Does It Work?
Sofar will announce the date of the next music date on its website as well as social media pages. The venue and the artists performing will be kept a mystery but the time of the show will be communicated. It’s exciting when you think about it and it keeps the element of surprise and anticipation.
36 hours before the concert, the location will be revealed but you will not be aware of who is performing until the moment the gig starts. That’s the beauty of the unexpected.
After the gig, Sofar will send you an email with the information about the artists you saw during the show. In this way, you will get to discover the artists further and support them if you appreciate their craft.

Sofar Mauritius is here to support local artists by offering them a platform to perform for an audience of music lovers. It’s a way to showcase their craft in an intimate and unsual setting. There’s no headliner at Sofar. Each artist is given the same amount of time to play his music.
Sofar Mauritius will be handling the organization and provide you with a unique space to share your craft with an engaged audience that wants to discover or rediscover music in its true beauty.
During our event, you will share the stage with 1 or 2 more artists. Each of you will be given a set of time to perform. We will provide the necessary facilities so that the audience can enjoy your music in a relaxing setting with all the necessary equipment and amenities.
